WHAT REALLY MOTIVATES YOU?

RSA Animate makes these cool videos from really excellent talks. This one is given by Dan Pink, and it's all about what really drives humans.

If you like this, also check out The Empathic Civilisation by Jeremy Rifkin, and The Secret Powers of Time by Philip Zimbardo... yes, he's the Stanford Prison Experiment guy.

The Multi-Disciplinary Designer: Finding your niche in a complex global economy..

Muti Randolph is the perfect example of the designer of the New Millennium. This Brazilian designer has truly found his niche in the design world. This interview takes you through a glimpse of his life from early childhood, through his beginnings as a set designer, and into his current work. Randolph doesn't consider himself to be an architect, designer, or artist nor does he admit to knowing exactly what to call himself. Randolph has created his own brand, that ties together the professions of Multimedia Art, Set Design, and Light Engineering. His work blends the elements of space through the mediums of surface, sound, and light.

Watch this video to learn more about his life and ambitions. Also a very nice blog!

amazing projection artist fuses architecture with animation

This brilliant concept shows how light and color can be used to fool the eye. These animations take advantage of the architecture, using the building's facade as a screen for a three dimensional animation.

Projection on Buildings from NuFormer Projection on Vimeo.

We're not sure if this is real, but we enjoyed watching it.

H2Oil

Where does it all come from, where is it all going?  This is an interesting animation about our relationship with Canada through means of oil, water, and energy.  Sure its one sided, and perhaps the other side isn't given their chance to speak.  Either way this video is done well enough to have kept my attention the whole way through, so even if you don't buy into its message, perhaps you can enjoy its content.

ARTISTS CANVAS

I stumbled upon this video while looking for cool things on the internet.  While I was watching the video it made me think of something going on inadvertently here at Orphan Studio, our coffee table.  Here are some images of what it currently is looking like.

ReDefine Transportation: Demand for alternative methods becomes global

More and more people are questioning our methods of transportation. For years now the issue of public transportation has come up in virtually every realm of discussion. Whether in academic groups, city planning commitees, or the automotive boardrooms, one common reality surfaces. Transportation, how we get around town, and across town...But thus far little to no attempts have been made to remedy the problem, with the exception of the recent out cry from various private sectors, and of course the Danish, who've been leading the movement for quite some time.

Recently, as you may know, OS/ATX finished their first competition. The Bath, England ULTra PRT (Personal Rapid Transit) System competition, http://www.atsltd.co.uk/Bath/, images can be seen at the works page above, and learn more about the system at http://www.ultraprt.com/cms/.
